Ooohh..I'll never forget the Bubble Tape! Whenever we're at Megamall, my kuya and I will always have these babies in our pockets as we go home. 8->

Theater Thursdays: The Circle of Life
It has been 16 years, and I vividly remember how sad I was when Mufasa died. I cried at this part of the movie. Boo Scar. :(

Scrumptious Saturdays: Never knew I'll love
What better way to start the weekend than reminiscing those mouth-watering foods we used to enjoy when we were still kids? Some are still available today (yay for us :D), but there are also some that are nowhere to be found. Boo. :(

The sick Batang X here!
I was about to drink my medicine when a blog post popped in my head! (Geez, I get my blog inspiration from random things these days (e.g. pink sky). It gets so boring here at home. :/)
*drum roll please*
Do you remember these?

"Some things are a little more important than French class, Computer." -Dexter
Dexter's Laboratory has been one of the cartoons I have been watching and waiting for when I was still in elementary. *sigh* Time flies so fast, I don't think the show is still being aired these days. I'll never forget how annoyed Dexter is with his pestering older sister, Dee Dee. (I too am very much annoyed with her. Haha!) So here's a little something to remind you guys of this little genius and how he endures and works with the wonders of science and of course, Dee Dee. :D

Music Monday-night: Do-Re-Mi Theme Song "I Can"
We're on a roll today!
"I can live, I can love. I can reach the heavens above. I can right what is wrong. I can sing just any song."
It's such a feel good song, don't you think? I just hate how off Mikee Cojuangco's voice was. Haha. Oh well.
Oh. It's from the movie Do-Re-Mi, by the way. It's entitled "I Can".
I might just do a flashback on that movie some time.
For now, let's sing out loud.
Now here's a random photo of the view outside my window.
Huzzah.

Music Mondays: Bare Naked Ladies - One week
Hey guys! Been a while hasn't it huh?
Anyway, to start off our return, here's something a little up beat and nonsensical :D
The song came out 1999. Yep it's catchy and fun, and hard as hell to sing along to, but it ultimately makes no sense. Whatsoever. Anybody can provide a helpful interpretation?
The video itself is cool though, very very "90's" for a lack of a better term, and feels like a fitting culmination of the lighter side of the decade. The song's the kind that gets stuck to your head for about a couple of days... or weeks.
yeah that's it hahaha...
watch out for more updates in the following days!

Pizzicato Five - Sweet Soul Revue
Okay, a lot of you guys probably remember this song playing on the radio while in the car going to school or at home when our kasambahays had it playing.
Sweet Soul Revue (yes it is spelled that way apparently) was a hit by a Japanese Pop group named Pizzicato Five which was released back in 1993, and hit #1 in the charts here in the Philippines. It gained fame cause it was used as in an advertising campaign by some Japanese cosmetics corporation.
This is probably one of the only J-pop songs we all could remember. Hell it's surprising enough that it even went main stream here, since Asian pop wasn't really a thing here back then (excluding OPM of course).
I don't have anything against it though, the tune's pretty catchy.
As a bonus, here's the translated lyrics of the song.
I didn't notice till I looked
in the mirror
this morning
I'm falling in love with you
I'm falling in love with you
where am I going
dressing up?
yes, I'm going
to see you
baby, this town is always a parade
baby, so I am following
in this world
there are a lot of sweet
and catchy things
wanna hug
wanna be happy
don't you want to hold them close?
hey, the revue is starting
hey, don't be late
hey, the revue is starting
hey, don't forget
perhaps you noticed
when you
looked at me today
you're fallin' in love
fallin' in love with me
on tv I saw
and old movie
it was like
a musical revue
baby, the town is always a parade
baby listen! don't you hear it?
in this world
there a lot of happy
and lucky things
wanna kiss
wanna be glad
don't you want to hold them close?
don't you want to hold them close?
hey, the revue is starting
hey, don't be late
hey, the revue is starting
hey, don't forget
in this world
there are a lot of
sweet
and catchy things
oh lord,
don't rain
on my parade
but even if there is no
happy
or lucky things at all
in this world
you make me
so happy
don't you wanna hold them close?
don't you wanna hold them close?
hey, the revue is starting
hey, don't be late
hey, the revue is starting
hey, don't forget
A little too fluffy for my tastes

A little something we're gonna be doing weekly from now on, Musical Mondays features the hit songs we may have or may have not missed back in the day. If there're any songs you guys might know of back then, we're open to take requests!
Kicking it off would be this tune from Smashing Pumpkins. "Tonight Tonight" was released back in 1996 and is known as one of the band's greatest hits. While the song itself was well received and pretty damn sweet, the video that accompanied the song was what caught everyone's attention. It won 6 awards in the MTV Video Music Awards in 1996:
Video of the Year
Best Direction
Best Special Effects
Best Art Direction
Best Cinematography
Breakthrough Video
To this day, it's still considered to be one of the greatest music videos of all time
A little trivia, the video was heavily based on a silent film "A Trip to the Moon" by Georges Méliès waaay back in 1902. Here's the vid if you wanna take a peek at it:
For more info and updates on the band, check out their site: http://www.smashingpumpkins.com/

Missing the Pink in Action
When was the last time you ate an Ice Scramble? That cold, pink blended ice with milk powder on top that helps you cool down when shakes, juices and water are not around when you're waiting for your busmates?
I was introduced to this pink friend of mine when I was in my gradeschool days, around 7 years ago. My mom told me not to buy from street vendors because the food they sell is not safe. You know how scramble vendors are: a man dressed in a loose plain-colored shirt, shorts, slippers, and a towel hanging around his neck, all tired and sweaty plus a bicycle with a cart with a pail on top and a blender thing inside. Naglalako ng scramble. Clean enough? I don't think so.
It was only last June 5 that I got to encounter this cold treat that has been missing in action after I graduated from gradeschool.
I was in SM Marikina with my boyfriend and brother. We were about to go home when we saw this newly improved ice scramble stand!
It still has the same taste as when I first ate it. Ahh, gradeschool days. It's fun to reminisce about the 90's. It's our year, our memories, our good times.
